Founded around 1853. Between 1875 to 1910. The mining of Copper, Silver
Gold and other minerals at the near by mountains. Help to keep this town alive.
Bagdad had a few railroad shacks, A service station, A cafe, garage and a
Harvey house. Population of 25 to 35.
Bagdad also had a Post Office that opened on May 31,1889 which was closed
on Dec. 15, 1921. On Oct 28,1922 the P.O. was reopened and then again
closed on Apr.30,1923 At this time the P.O. was moved to Amboy.
Bagdad was also the Head Quarters of the Orange Blossom mine.
In the summer of 1991 the Harvey house, Depot, School and the church were
destroyed to make way for a storage area for Large pipes for a natural gas
pipeline operation from Topock to Bakersfield.
