Lanfair Named after Ernest L. Lanfair.
Mr. Lanfair settled on the present day site. In 1910.
By 1914 most of the area was claimed. Due to homesteding.
There were roads, Farms, Cleared fields, schools and other improvements.
Homesteaders were transported to the area on Santa Fe by the branch train
up to the proper siding.
in 1912 there was a General store which also served as the Post Office.
The 1st Postmaster was Mr. Lanfair . When the Post Office opened on Sept. 21
1912. On Nov. 20,1913 Mr. Lanfair's Wife Olive W. Lanfair served as the 2nd
Postmaster. There were 2 other Postmasters that served untill the Post Office
was closed on Jan. 31, 1927. Postal records show that the P.O. was moved to
Goffs 17 miles to the south.
