Ruins at Rice.
Rice was used as a training base during W.W. II. The post office was opened on Feb. 20,1933.
And had 6 Postmaters from 1933 to closing on Apr. 15,1946.
Rice was also a Santa Fe train depot located 25 miles west of the Colorado River.
It was Previously named Blythe junction with a P.O. of  that name. The site is less than one
mile north of the Riverside county line.
Rice was named in honor of Guy R. Rice A chief engineer of Calif. Southern Railway (SF).
From 1920 to 1940 the rail was a transfer point for Palo Verde Valley.
